Your adventure begins with a morning departure from your Marrakech accommodation. You will enjoy a scenic drive into the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains until you reach the bustling trailhead village of Imi Oughlad (1,450m). Here, you will meet your expert guide and muleteer team.

Once the mules are loaded, the trek begins with a steady climb through lush forests of oak and juniper. You will reach the Tizi n’Tacht pass (2,000m), where you will be rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding valleys. From the pass, we descend into the breathtaking Azzaden Valley, notable for its striking red soil and traditional stone Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides. We conclude our first day of hiking in the picturesque village of Tizi Oussem, where you will enjoy a hot Moroccan dinner and rest for the night in a traditional mountain gîte.
From here, the trail climbs steadily and zigzags its way up to the Toubkal Refuge, which is located at an elevation of 3206 meters.

After a hearty mountain breakfast, we depart Tizi Oussem and begin a demanding but incredibly rewarding ascent out of the Azzaden Valley. Our goal for the morning is the spectacular Tizi Mzik pass (2,489m). As you reach the crest of the pass, the landscape opens up to reveal jaw-dropping, panoramic views of the entire Imlil Valley and the towering peaks of the Toubkal Massif looming in the distance.

Take time to capture photos and enjoy a freshly prepared picnic lunch in the fresh mountain air. Afterward, we begin our descent through beautiful juniper groves down toward the vibrant village of Imlil (1,740m), the undisputed trekking capital of Morocco. Tonight, you will be treated to the comforts of Riad Atlas Panorama, where you can enjoy a hot shower, a delicious dinner, and a soft bed to prepare for the high-altitude days ahead.

Today, the journey to the summit truly begins! Leaving Imlil behind, we trek up the rugged Mizane Valley. We will pass through the final permanent settlement of Aremd, navigating across rocky floodplains before the trail begins to climb steeply up the mountainside.

By midday, we will arrive at the famous shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m). Set beside a mountain stream, this is a traditional pilgrimage site and the perfect spot to rest, hydrate, and enjoy some sweet Moroccan mint tea. From the shrine, the path zigzags sharply upward into the harsh, rocky alpine environment. After a few more hours of steady climbing, the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) will come into view. This base camp will be our home for the night. You will have an early dinner and an early bedtime to prepare for tomorrow's pre-dawn alpine start.

Max Elevation: 4,167m (Mount Toubkal Summit)

Summit day! We wake up well before dawn, have a quick, energy-boosting breakfast, and set off into the dark with our headlamps illuminating the rocky trail. The ascent is steep and non-technical, involving a long hike up scree slopes and rocky ravines. Depending on the season, we may cross patches of snow.

As the sun begins to rise, the sky transforms into a canvas of vivid colors, providing the motivation needed for the final push. Finally, you will step onto the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m)—the highest point in Morocco and all of North Africa. The 360-degree views are simply spectacular, stretching from the Marrakech plains to the distant Sahara Desert.

After celebrating and taking summit photos, we begin the long descent back to the Toubkal Refuge for a well-deserved lunch. We then continue our descent all the way back down the valley to Imlil. Here, our transport will be waiting to drive you back to Marrakech, dropping you off at your accommodation in the early evening with memories that will last a lifetime.
